It Seems Like Only Yesterday

When your "Idol" dies, how does it make you feel? When I read about Hunter S Thompson's death, I just came from nightshift to home, opened my computer and read the news like I did every morning...

"Famous Writer Killed Himself"

I cried for 4 minutes, went to the nearest bar, bought a beer and smoked red malboros at 11am and paid my respects to a guy I've never met, only read his books. It was a sad and weird moment to me, I never thought that I would feel so extreme about it.

Squarepusher - Coathanger

This song just fuckin rules man! Those crazy basslines between the "chorus" make me shiver like a monkey in an iglu.

I've been listening to this song two days now before going to work. Just this song. Sometimes songs are just like that, they won't let you go.

Brother Half Moon

Finnish comedy classic, every episode of this fantastic show ended with this song, sung by the great actor Pirkka-Pekka Petelius.

Finnish Television Classics

"Some TV stations in Finland have come up with this brilliant way of making money when they are too lazy or too poor to make or buy proper programs. They put on a stupid game you can play by sending sms messages that cost like 1€ each. There's always some twat that likes to pay for making something colourful bounce on national televison for one second.
Anyway, stuff doesn't always go as planned."

Workin On Christmas Day

Finnish Workplace Humor

Stapler Faher Shakki

When I was getting my "forklift license" they showed me this type of video about the dangers that could occur during work. The best on my list is when I dropped about 200litres of milk on the floor... It looked beautiful.

Myspace...

I hate myspace, it doesn't work pretty good. Stupid design and so on... but anyway cause I have a band, I just have to put it on myspace! That's right! So from now on you can find Vanhainkoti also from MYSPACE! Ain't that just great?

So please add me as your friend if you use myspace and dig my stuff! Or don't! Who cares anyway?

Myspace.com/vanhainkoti

ps. I'm having serious trouble with my music software, because of my new computer and new OS... don't ask..
New Vanhainkoti album ready, all it needs now is covers. I did new stuff today, but it's definetly a new style once again. At least new sound... I hate machines. It's hate/love situation, more to the love part.

Great Stuff You Find From YouTube While Searchin For David Lynch

The Wrestler

The song rules. It really fitted the ending of the movie. Best "I Quit" scene in a movie I've seen a long time. The part where Ram quitted his job at the shop. I laughed, though it was sad shit. Great movie.

Tango Down

I'm currently playing Rainbow Six Vegas 1. It's funny. Going inside an action film from Hollywood. Stupid shit, brainless entertainment for my brainless needs. Oh yes. The Wrestler movie rules BTW.

Surupuku

I love cover songs, and I usually love them even more, when... they are made in whole different genre, like from Rock to Swing or from Pop to Reggae and so on...

Here is this woman singer Maria Lund covering finnish heavy rock band Timo Rautiainen and Trio Niskalaukaus's song SURUPUKU <--- it's the suit that you put on funerals.

Love her voice...

And here is the original Surupuku:

Pretty cool.

Evil Swedish!

I love this song from The Knife. Heartbeats.

The Knife rules!

Those evil swedish! Once again defeat us finns in making perfect music.

Surrounding

Circle musicvideo by Mika Taanila. I was at an art exhibition yesterday and I came across to Mika Taanila's piece Optical Sound, it is a fantastic sound/video audiovisual porn tape where he uses song by somebody who sampled the sounds of old printers and made a song using those samples in the video where the printers play their song. It's quite amazing. Couldn't find it anywhere from youtube. I keep on searching, in the meanwhile I found his work for the Finnish krautrock band Circle! It's blue! It's psychedelic! Yeah!
