These Are My Twisted Words
I've been pretty bored about Radiohead lately, but this new song got my interest. It's really amazing song. Download it for free from here

Predator 1
I saw this movie the first time when I was 12 years old. It changed my life. Years later I realized that action films of the 80's were a species of it's own. Dead and gone.

Nudge Collaboration
Music has come a long way to stuff like this. The internets...
Airkingsound started this on his blog and I felt the urge to add stuff to it, so here is my nudge jam with Airkingsound! Feel free to mess it up. It's fun! It's music.

VANHAINKOTI - Recording Diary 009
I've been doing a little bit of recording and editing on the songs almost every morning with a cup of coffee and weird mind. I've noticed that mornings are the best, you are still half sleep but you have no trouble of recording hours of complete ring mod noise and then cut it down in to 3 minutes. Morning fun time.
I really can't remember what I have done to the songs... I've been adding stuff there, taking stuff out from there and so on... Overall everything is coming along nicely and I think every song basis that I started will end up released in one form or another. I'm pretty excited about these new songs, because I've spent a lot of time with them and I've been doing them with a patience, though it may not seem so when you hear them, but that's the beauty of it. That fucking horrible sound that annoys your guts took me about 3 hours to make and 6 hours to think about it at work which isn't related to music in any way possible, except it pays the bills of the artist in question.
Anyways... I can't wait to get them ready and out there! Still haven't decided what will the format be... I love long albums... but then again ep format would be great to try out and also because I have 5 covers ready and hidden in a secret place.
I highly recommend to record guitar completely drunk for 5-8minutes, warp it into 25 minutes and sample that shit over the ambient piece you had waiting for the right sound. Worked beautifully. Dead Man soundtrack is also one the best soundtracks ever made. The atmosphere in that album is beautiful. Sometimes I try to capture that kind of feeling. That feeling of loneliness and beauty.
Man, don't you just love the internets!

Shakki Rules! Episode 1!
As I said before, I do a radio-show at home for fun and for those 2 guys in Finland with a bong! So thanks to the new site Mixcloud.com I am now able to share my radio-show with the rest of the world easily! So here is my latest season starter, Shakkirules Episode 1, parts 1 & 2. For your ears! Listen! Or Don't! It's streaming! It's free! It rules! Fuck yes.
Radio

As you might know, I do an "underground internet radio" show here in the Internets. Finnish pot smokers listen to my stuff and wonder why it is only in English! Nobody knows. Maybe the reason was Mixcloud.com which seems to be a perfect place to store my brain generated radio crapness and share it with even more people than the usual 2 guys sitting at home with a bong. There is nothing wrong with that! Maybe with Mixcloud, I can get those weirdos in Singapore to listen also! Wow!

In The Search
Hey there people. I'm in the search of wonderful films that I haven't seen yet or even heard about before in my life!
The list so far:
The Holy Mountain
Begotten
Forbidden Zone
and this...
Here in Helsinki there is an awesome movie shop, full of weird movies and timeless classics. If there is one thing that inspires me it's the moving image.
And for people living outside Scandinavia, you should really check out this wonderful Swedish film (those evil bastards!), it's a really unique experience:

My Moment
Oh man, I remember when I bought this album.. I was little bit younger then, 18years old. I bought it, put it in my Portable CD-Player (yeah that's how I rolled back in 2001) and sat down with a cigarette in my mouth. When this song came on it started raining and I smiled. I wondered "How can one man do all this stuff, wow shit that is amazing and he plays bass! Hell yeah!"... Those type of moments are precious and beautiful. Lost in time, like tears in rain.
Take Me Back To Your House
For some reason I've yet to explained to myself... I enjoy this song and video very much.
How Deep Is That Glove?
I dedicate this song to the bee that gave her life while attacking my arm.
I didn't even do anything that would have been annoying to the bee. It's getting cold here in Helsinki and the bees are going crazy.

I Don't Feel Like Dancing
I've got work tomorrow, so Shakki stays at home tonight and listens to this amazing song.
Work
I drive this type of machinery at work every day. The sounds that machine makes are incredible. I have to sample them one day, you don't get that stuff from synths. Or at least not very easily.
It's the first machine I've ever driven and man... I'm hooked.
Here in Helsinki you can live your whole life without a car. Public transit is diamond here, but oh boy do I ever want to drive a car after I first got my hands on that amazing piece of golden machinery from god of analog robots!

Steven Wright...
rules.
Also I really love Steven's and Roberto Benigni's scene on Coffee & Cigarettes, I think it's the best part of the movie.

VANHAINKOTI - Recording Diary 008
The songs are coming along nicely. Adding new stuff every week, taking stuff away, adding stuff, taking stuff away. I've been adding a lot of popping sounds, clicking sounds, crackles, vacuum cleaners, weird basses and mystical cross-fading. I love this "work slowly" thing. It's all worth the time. Maybe by the end of this year all of the 14 new songs are done. Then it's EP time.

Faces
"WHAT TO DO WITH LEFT OVER TOILET PAPER ROLLS? JUNIOR JACQUET of France has an answer that works for him. He recycles and reuses these cardboard rolls into a legion of odd characters with contorted faces. His process is simple: Jacquet paints—then pushes and pulls the cardboard roll, slowly revealing his next character."

Nieminen & Litmanen
I had the pleasure to jam with these guys one night for 5 minutes completely drunk. The best Organ/Drum duo in Finland!

RAMBO V
I don't know why I love Rambo movies and think that Rambo IV was the best movie to come out that year. I watched it in a movie theater and laughed out loud all the way through to the point that I was probably pretty annoying to the other manly men watching it. That movie also inspired me to do a Vanhainkoti song called Burma... There is something about good over the top action films that I like, they are like good heavy-metal/rock song that you want to listen to over and over again. Also the editing in action films is pretty amazing, super fast cuts and totally ripping one-liners! Anyways I'm looking forward to see what Sly will come up with this recent synopsis of Rambo V from Comingsoon.net
"John Rambo could track anyone - or anything - on earth. Now the military desperately needs him for a mission that his ultrasensitive instincts tell him he should refuse. A beast is loose somewhere north of the Artic Circle. It has already decimated a secret research facility and annihilated a squad of elite military guards. And the raging creature is headed south toward civilization, ready to wreak bloody devastation.
It's a job that Rambo and his 22-year-old hunting partner, Beau Brady, can't turn down, but they and a team of highly-skilled special forces kill team discover that the prey is a terror beyond their wildest imagination - a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments. It has man's cunning, a predator's savageness, and a prehistoric power that has transcended the ages. And even if Rambo and Beau survive its unrelenting hunger for human blood, they'll still have to contront the grim reality that it may have grown immortal."

Airplane Thriller
This spoof is exactly the way how I see this movie every time I watch it.
I'm gonna make my own spoof. I started doing false subtitles for The Downfall movie, but all the best ideas are used already, until I think of something, I'm gonna do something else. Maybe a new Vanhainkoti music video? Yes?
Moments Of Power

I found out about this beautiful collection of powerful pictures from Airkingsound's twitter. Thanks!

Beck Rules
Record Club: Songs Of Leonard Cohen "Suzanne" from Beck Hansen on Vimeo.
"Here is the first track from Record Club No. 2. This time around the group includes Devendra Banhart, Ben, Andrew and Matt from MGMT, Andrew from Wolfmother, Binki from Little Joy, and Brian and Bram returning from the first Record Club. For those new to the Record Club, it is an informal meeting of various musicians to record an album in a day. An album is chosen to be reinterpreted and used as a framework. Nothing rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track is put up here once a week. As you will hear, some of the songs are rough renditions, often first takes documenting what happened over the course of a day. There is no intention to 'add to' the original work or attempt to recreate the power of the original recording. Only to play music and document what happens. And those who aren't familiar with the albums in question will hopefully look for the songs in their definitive versions. 'Songs Of Leonard Cohen' by Leonard Cohen was chosen by Andrew from MGMT. For those interested, our close second choice was Ace Of Base, which we'll keep on the list for next time."

Jukka Tolonen Rules
"Jukka Tolonen is not only Finland's national guitar hero but also one of the world's most respected guitarists. For the past 4 decades, he has captivated audiences through Scandinavia and Europe with his powerful and passionate works. He remains of the the most diverse guitarists of today, being equally proficient in a blues, rock, or fusion jazz environment.
Born in Helsinki in 1952, Tolonen first came to center stage in 1969 when a group of young Finnish musicians merged their collective talents to form the widely popular rock/jazz fusion band Tasavallan Presidentti, who were to record four critically acclaimed albums. During this time, Tolonen also recorded two albums with another well know band Wigwam. These recordings would establish Tolonen as a powerfully explosive and technically spectacular guitarist."
